About
Welcome to the Electronic Music Unit's website. The Electronic Music Unit (EMU) is part of the University of Adelaide's Elder Conservatorium and provides specialised facilities in the areas of electronic music and music technology. It is housed on the fourth and fifth floor of the Schulz building and has a range of fully equipped studios and computer laboratories that enjoy stunning daytime and nighttime views of both North Adelaide and the CBD. The EMU is the main area for students who specialise in Music Technology, but it is also used by composition students, and performance students (both classical and jazz). The main studio is equipped with a Steinway Model B grand piano. There are also small studios which are used for digital editing, sound and interactive design. The EMU (formerly known as PATU - Performing Arts Technology Unit) is also used as a public venue for concerts of contemporary and experimental music, including those which feature new works by student composers.
